Welcome to Ric Garcia's Studio

I am a Cuban-American artist. My goal is to create work that transcends exclusively Latino themes yet is welcoming to the subtle influences of my ethnic historic heritage.

My work is focused on shape, color, line, and, design. The objects in the “everyday”, nature, and my Cuban heritage are sources of inspiration. I apply universal themes to these subjects and deliberate compositional design elements to promote strong and personal emotional response from the viewer.

 

 

 

 

I’m currently working on a series of paintings that applies a pop art aesthetic to iconic commercial products from my childhood in Miami. I collectively call this three-year project “Cuban POP”.  The series is colorful, nostalgic, and playful as it explores a culture and childhood thru the influence of mainstream consumerism and popular culture.
