Welcome to Ric Garcia's Studio

Ric Garcia is a Cuban-American artist creating work with a goal of reaching beyond typical Latino themes yet welcoming the subtle influences of his ethnic historic heritage. His work is primarily focused on shape, line, and, design and his color sense is influenced by his Miami upbringing.

Everyday life and nature are sources of inspiration for him, just as they were for the French impressionists and American painters from the turn of the century. Garcia explains, “I am interested in an authentic interaction between my work and the viewer, to accomplish that, I look for subjects and universal themes in everyday life.”

Garcia manages a figure study group at the Smithsonian, and designs graphic art for the Smithsonian Associates. Born in Miami, Florida, he earned a BFA from the University of Miami and continues his studies under local DC artists.

He is  available for commissions, illustration and graphic design work.
